The Bukhman Centre for Research Excellence in Type 1 Diabetes at the University of Oxford was established in 2025 with support from the Bukhman Foundation to accelerate progress toward better treatments, and ultimately a cure, for Type 1 Diabetes.
The Foundation's commitment to this field reflects the personal experience of its founders, Anastasia and Igor Bukhman, whose family has been directly affected by the condition. Over time, they have seen both the daily challenges faced by people living with Type 1 Diabetes and their families, as well as the remarkable scientific advances now emerging in the field.
Through its support for the Centre, the Bukhman Foundation aims to help accelerate research into the causes, prevention, and treatment of the disease by enabling collaboration between leading scientists and clinicians at Oxford.
Working in partnership with institutions around the world, the Foundation supports ambitious research and people driving lasting change.
